Two have-a-go heroes restrained a knifeman after a man was stabbed in an attack outside a busy north-east London shopping centre.

Police rushed to Kingsland High Road in Dalston, near Kingsland Shopping Centre, to find that two men had pinned down a teenager who was carrying a weapon.

A 45-year-old man was stabbed when the violence broke out shortly before 1.45pm on Thursday. He remained in hospital and was in a stable condition on Friday.

A teenage boy, 17, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and grievous bodily harm. He also suffered minor injuries and was rushed to hospital before being taken to an east London police station.

Pictures from the scene show an area of the High Street outside the shopping centre tapped off and emergency services vehicles lining the road.
