Lilly Singh, the YouTube star, has been announced as the new host of NBC’s late-night talk show.

She will replace Carson Daly in September, and her 1.30am show will be retitled A Little Late with Lilly Singh. The move will make her the only female host of a US late-night talk show on the so-called “Big Four” networks (NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox).

Singh, who is Canadian-Indian, first came to prominence online as a satirical comedian and commentator. Under the moniker “IISuperwomanII”, she currently has 14.5 million YouTube subscribers.

She has since branched out into music, writing and acting, with small roles in Ice Age: Collision Course and HBO’s Fahrenheit 451. In the 2017 Forbes Rich List, she ranked tenth, with annual earnings of $10.5 million.

The move was announced on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show, which airs in an earlier evening slot on NBC.
