Parts of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris have been destroyed after a “terrible” blaze broke out on Monday evening, leading to shock and sadness around the world.

First reports of fire.

Smoke is reported billowing from the cathedral and flames can be seen near its two bell towers.
